Is your website ready for the VAT change?

As you can imagine – we, and I am sure other IT and web companies, are suddenly going to be inundated with lots of requests about the proposed VAT change over the next month. Be clear on how your website or IT system handles VAT. Some systems or website allow you to change the VAT rate in one place. Some systems or websites may have the value of VAT 'hardcoded' in many places and will need lots of careful attention and skill to update correctly. Take care that if you do change the VAT rate that historical data is not affected and that the rate change only applies to future transactions. If in any doubt talk to the provider of your system or website and get a plan in place to cope with this potential change as soon as possible. Be aware that most IT or web companies may be inundated with requests to review systems or website over the next few months.

Less than 100 online retailing days until Christmas

Are you ready with your online Christmas offers? Consumers are likely to stay at home and do their Christmas shopping on the internet this year, says a survey by IMRG, eDigital-Research and ipoints. Seventy-seven per cent of the 3,000 respondents plan to do at least half of their shopping on the web (compared with 56% last year).
